There are great places you can explore and enjoy at FCMoD without buying an admission ticket! We call these places the Free Zone, and you are welcome to visit them any time we are open.
The Archive at FCMoD
You’ll find the story of Fort Collins and the surrounding area in the Archive’s comprehensive collection of books, photos, maps, microfilm and more. It’s always free and open to all. If you have questions or need help, our experienced archivists are here for you!
Natural Areas Visitor Center
Get to know the diverse range of the City’s natural areas here. Use the interactive map to plan your next adventure, learn about the Natural Areas program, and visit our two black footed ferrets and find out their amazing story.
Griffin Piano Lounge
Relax in the company of the restored grand piano from the 1904 St. Louis Worlds Fair.
The Cache
FCMoD’s museum store, The Cache, carries a unique array of fun, educational, and mission-related products. Have fun shopping, and feel good that all proceeds from your museum store purchase benefit the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery!
Observation Deck
Take in the great panoramic views of Old Town Fort Collins, the Poudre River, and the foothills and mountains from the 42-foot high observation deck. You can access the observation deck by taking the elevator or by the stairs next to the ticket desk.
